Don Bosco At Beatitudes, Vyasarpadi

Don Bosco AT Beatitudes

To mark the 75 years of glorious presence and service of Salesians of Don Bosco Fathers and Brothers to the poor and marginalized Youth of Tamil Nadu set the glimpses at Don Bosco Beatitudes Social Welfare Centre, Vyasarpadi at 5:15 pm with the arrival of the Rector Major, Rev. Fr. Pascual Chavez, the Superior of the Salesians of Don Bosco.

His visit to Beatitudes was an honour to the whole of the Salesian world as it stands out to be a unique centre, catering to people from womb to tomb. This visit will always stand as a red lettered day in the annals of the institution. One of the inmates of the leper colony Mr. Arokiaraj bubbling with joy on this great occasion called it as a day of blessing to the institute and all gathered. The beneficiaries numbering around 2000 viz., Poor, Orphans, Primary and High School Children, lepers, destitute and the aged, women of SHG’s, etc., welcomed the Rector major by waving colorful hand flags bearing his image. He was felicitated by people and religious from different sectors of the institution. Everyone felt the presence of Don Bosco himself in the person of Rector Major.

Rector Major in his message to the gathering thanked God for the mighty service that is realized to the poorest of the poor of the locality in the name of Don Bosco. He remembered the true son of Don Bosco in the person of real visionary, founder and builder of the institution Rev. Fr. Orpheus Mantovani and said that the institution has been started to offer hope for the hopeless. All these years the centre has visualized the dream of the founder and had given life and hope to thousands of deserving youth and elders. It has made all those who had stepped in to be convinced of the motto of the institution, “No one has the right to be happy alone.” He invited all the children to utilize the education that was offered to take responsibility in the future to be happy and to become honest citizens. He insisted that in the present post modern culture true happiness consists in becoming holy. The cultural programme by the tiny toads set a befitting end to the visit. Adding colour to the visit he dialogued with the beneficiaries of different services and went to various departments of the institution. This visit has rejuvenated the spirit and the charism of Don Bosco.
